Chuck Gordo

Chuck Gordo is a self-taught artist who grew up in a small Mid-Western town in the US. He began creating in Philadelphia & operating as a professional artist in 1998.

Chuck has exhibited & sold to collectors in Philadelphia, Cape Town, New York,
Long Island, Wellington, Auckland, & is presently has a home studio in Bli Bli on
the Sunshine Coast.

“I treasure having no rules. Anything goes...art offers a helluva lot of
freedom. I am a servant to creative expression. As with most passions I am
liberated by & captive to it simultaneously & in turns. I colour my own world
& am moved to overflow into the world of others. My work is largely intuitive,
surprisingly full of detail, intended to vibrate with aliveness & endeavours to
be highly refined & rather primitive at once. I find inspiration & influence
especially from cultural art including Mexican, Eastern Spiritual, African,
Aboriginal, Maori, & Street-Art. I am drawn to creating on a variety of
surfaces. How rewarding it is to take a discarded or unwanted object & turn
it into a piece of art. Material destined for the dump is reinvented into an
object of beauty, stimulation, & value.”
